recruitment software download

Posted by David Lyons in general. No Comments

We study the trends in the market place and I was a little surprised to see a lot of activity for the term, ‘recruitment software download’. Does this that there are people out there searching for recruitment software that they can download? I am aware that some of our competitors require you to download their software. This type of software although with some internet connectivity requires you to have a software application installed on your machine. This is all very well until you get a common scenario occurring…..and that is either some or all of the following reasons

1) You want to leave the office and still access your database, or

2) You want to travel overseas or to the next town and access your database from your phone or an internet cafe.

3) You are at home when you get a call from a client who needs one of your candidates data pronto.

A humorous thought, perhaps the reason for the rise in the search trend for ‘recruitment software download’ is down to clients of these companies  having to regularly download an instance of the software wherever they may be.

I enjoy educating potential clients on the benefits of a web based software system. It has many advantages, it is  always on and available via any browser connected to the internet, without the hassle of having to download it when you are away from the office. Just log in via any internet connected browser and you are working in, in seconds.

Does your recruitment software provider expect disaster?

Posted by David Lyons in general. No Comments

We all have it in the back of our minds. What happens if the server goes down? Will I lose my data? Will I be able to work that day?
All software as a service companies look the same on the outside.

Did you know that over 60% of our Hosting budget is spent on strategies to cope with a disaster. So in the 6 years we have been in business we have spent a fortune on something that has never happened. We could have winged it some would say and I know I would not have slept as well over the years, however what would happen if the server you were on did go up in a puff of smoke? How could we justify being a market leader in recruitment software databases if you could not access your data or even lost your data. That’s why a large part of our budgets go on scenarios that may never ever happen.

Imagine this scenario. You invest in some software and are happily paying your monthly fee. One day the website is down and you can’t work. You call the vendor and they explain that the server you are on is damaged and they are working hard to restore service. If you are in this situation I can guess that you may be waiting at least 8 – 12 hours for service to be restored. Why? The vendor has not thought about a disaster plan. They probably have 1 server and hope for the best whilst they maximise their profits. They are slowly restoring that server and then they have hours of restore from taped back up, ahead of them, all while you sit at your desk staring at a blank screen.

At eBoss recruitment software we know its your data and we take care of it. For a start, its unlikely that your server will ever go down. We use a cluster of servers, so if there is a problem with 1 server, it switches to another identical server. Also, we write your data  to multiple disks at the same time. Is this the cloud? Well, its always been the cloud since the internet started. Is this the cloud as we know it recently? Yes, however its a Private cloud. Its our own dedicated hardware. The cloud you hear about today is a large public cloud and at this point, due to security concerns, we are reluctant to compromise your data on that. With our hosting partners we have built a private cloud. Using the same principles we offer a high availability cluster, in other words a system that is highly available.

Its good to know what’s going on in the background and at eBoss we spend a lot of time and energy into covering what could go wrong, so you don’t have to. And if you are still looking, don’t forget to ask your potential software supplier what they do in the background.

What’s the purpose of a 70% discount?

Posted by robward in general. No Comments

As my blog gathers momentum, I realise that its major function is to share my experiences of dealing with you, our valuable clients, on a day to day basis. The  best service I can give is to be a link among recruiters, so as to share learning and  motivate each other to stay the distance in this at times difficult, but always rewarding field of business and to help each other  answer questions of interest to us all.
So drop me a line even anonymously robert.ward@eboss.co.uk or call me on 0207 183 0675, and I’ll do my best to respond.

Remember any question you have, may be of interest to a hundred people who will not send an email…..

The purpose of today’s blog is in response to a question about the discounting of  services, and how some operators seem to be able to offer hugely inflated discounts. One example being the dropping 70% of their original asking price to secure  business.

For my part, whatever these tactics may imply about the motivation and integrity of a given company, I can confidently say that for our part,  the eBoss software and services are honestly priced, and that is why there is hardly any room for bargaining. Our mission statement is to  be a company which acts in the interests of our clients, a company which cares about the sustainability of our clients and a company that knows that our clients’ growth is our growth.

Our purpose is to continue to provide great value for the right money, and maintain the promise that the price that you join us on will be the price that you stay on.

Recruitment Software……and overtime

Posted by robward in general. No Comments

Eight minutes past six or 18:06 and I was in the office again. What’s wrong, I am still happily married, I’m not having an affair, I must love my job.

Anyway, this call was from a potential client who had some concerns. We very quickly established that his concerns were a result of some fairly straightforward unanswered questions. We talked through this and I think he was happy enough with what I was able to tell him.

During the conversation I mentioned about the ability to send an email with a CV attachment to a particular email address and how it would appear on the database fully parsed and record created, even matched to the job ID. Magic!! The potential client, made a little moan at that point (justifiable, I might add) and confirmed that he had asked about all extras and this little one had not been mentioned. (£5 per month per client, not per user). This is my first point….. If we don’t mention an add on during our demonstration  we will not charge you for them for the life of your relationship with us. If you ask and we don’t tell you about any extras, then your whole service is free.

These are not huge things, but worthy of a quick blog or tweet non the less.

Have a nice day.

Are you a friendly recruiter?

Posted by robward in general. No Comments

It was 5:15pm and I picked up the phone to call a client about an email they had just sent me.  I am not using this blog as an opportunity to tell all of our eBoss clients that I was working past 5, but lap it up anyway, as it’s not often I stay in the office past 5 (As you know by now, I have a wife and kids).

Anyway, back to the phone call. It was a phone call with a new client. Which one of the hundreds of new clients I hear you ask???  Well I told him that I would be writing this blog, mentioned how I would make reference to a very well spoken, sharp, professional, cut throat recruiter who had been a the head of his game for the last 15 plus years, but promised, I would not mention him or his company.  Oh how we laughed…..

This new client of ours had only been with us for a couple of weeks and although I had not sold him the service initially, we had spoken a few times and I would like to think that we hit it off pretty well straight away.  We have laughed about numerous topics, many of which would be better placed in another blog world altogether!!!!  Now at this point a thought did cross my mind, how easy it is to be in recruitment?  Pick up the phone have a chat, make some people laugh, close the deal and watch the bank balance and reputation grow.

In short, the answer is no.  The rapport you build up with your clients and candidates is a large part of what makes you successful, in addition, the quality of people you represent and if you have a team working for you, the job they do of representing you, all contributes to a good recruiter or recruitment company. However, there is another component, and that is something that I firmly believe should be one of the corner stones of any recruitment company’s foundations and that’s a good recruitment software system.

Before I rant on about what is required of an excellent recruitment software package, I must highlight one of my main points, and that’s the cost.  You do not have to pay an arm or even a leg for a system, nor should you have to sign a contract in blood agreeing to the offering up of your soul should you change your mind, or indeed want to leave (experience of a recently saved new client who nearly went with a competitor). You need a system that pays for itself, a system that grows as you grow, allowing your bank balance the same opportunity to prosper.

You need a system that stores your information, automates numerous tasks, takes the repetition out of recruitment. A system that lets you search through your thousands of candidates, clients, contacts or jobs, with a fine tooth comb, and finally (although there is loads more functionality) a system that is intuitive, easy to use and is ever enhancing its offering to you.

So, our loyal customers, you bring the people skills, we’ll bring the recruitment software skills (at a David Cameron, budget friendly £39 per person, for the life of our relationship) and together we will make recruitment love.

In short, you need eBoss recruitment software and we need you.  Shameless plug opportunity, if you know someone in recruitment and you don’t mind them having an equally as good system as you, introduce them to us, you might get a pleasant surprise.

Thank you and happy recruiting.

I am out of the office until Monday the 19th of July and will not be checking email regularly.

If your enquiry is urgent please call my associate, Edward Milborne on 07595 024758 or mail e.milborne@thp-search.co.uk

Thanks

We have never had a bug like this.. and other misconceptions!

Posted by janeclements in general, recruitmentsoftware. No Comments

bug-free-recruitment-softwareI was confronted at 7am this morning by three hungry children demanding breakfast and a preying mantis staring at me from the kitchen table. It was  actually quite unnerving as it turned its buggy little head to watch my every move as I first prepared breakfast and then attempted to remove it from the table.  I got as far as relocating it to the back of the chair instead. I really am not good with large bugs at such an early hour of the day.

And so we all spent breakfast watching the bug and the bug watching us…..quite a strange sight!  The children described him as ‘cute’ and by the time breakfast had finished he had acquired the name of Charlie.  I decided it might be best to find out if it would actually bite me, as I knew nothing about it.  So I logged onto the internet for a bit of ‘bug research’.  As it turns out, it is a sexual cannibal, eeek, but perfectly harmless to humans. It could bite, but apparently it wouldn’t be life threatening.  The inevitable, which I realised I had actually been putting off as long as possible, was to pick it up and throw it out the door.

Three little faces watched in fascination as I put on my brave face and more for my benefit than  anyone else’s I chanted the old line of  ‘it’s just a bug, it’s harmless, it’s more scared of us than we are of it’ although I didn’t feel so sure of that. It didn’t seem at all scared of us.  In fact as my hand went towards it its front legs went up in a sort of karate stance, as though preparing for battle.  However, with such an expectant audience I bravely picked it up and plopped it down again outside on the patio where it continued to stare at me with its little buggy eyes.

Before actually meeting a Preying Mantis, I thought they were hideous, ugly bugs, possibly dangerous and not at all what I encountered on the kitchen table that morning.  Misconceptions can be a dangerous thing.  It’s quite scary to realise we can so easily form an opinion on something without actually giving it a fair chance to prove itself for what it really is.

It got me thinking. I wonder what opinion people who have never encountered eBoss recruitment software have of us?  An interesting thought for a bug free week……………

candidate and vacancy shortlisting

Posted by David Lyons in recruitmentsoftware and tagged as . No Comments

Candidate and Vacancy shortlisting is easy with eBoss recruitment software. We have just released our new and improved functionality. Shortlisting means you can save lists of candidates to a specific vacancy and save lists of vacancies to a specific candidate. These lists can be manipulated, so you can remove and add records to existing lists. To find out more view our help video here http://support.eboss.co.uk/entries/211692-candidates-shortlisting
